The Situation
A series of fronts move northeast over the country today, followed by a cold and showery southwesterly flow tomorrow.
Looking at the weather to midnight tomorrow
Northland, Auckland and Coromandel
Scattered showers, turning to rain for a time overnight, briefly heavy, easing later tomorrow.
Waikato to Taranaki, including the central high country and Bay of Plenty
Scattered showers turning to rain tonight, then easing to isolated showers tomorrow morning.
Gisborne, Hawke's Bay
Partly cloudy. A few spots of rain from tonight.
Whanganui to Wellington, also Wairarapa, Marlborough and Nelson
Isolated showers, but rain for a time this afternoon or evening, clearing from Nelson tomorrow.
Buller to Westland
Rain with some heavy falls, turning to showers this afternoon with thunderstorms possible. Showers clearing in Westland tomorrow.
Canterbury
Rain developing this afternoon, easing to scattered showers tomorrow.
Otago, Fiordland, Southland
Rain turning to showers this afternoon. Showers becoming confined to the east later tomorrow.
Chatham Islands
A few showers, but rain overnight tonight.

Sunday
North Island: Partly cloudy with isolated showers, clearing mostly south of Auckland later in the day. South Island: Mainly fine in Fiordland and Westland. Scattered showers elsewhere, easing later and becoming confined north of Dunedin, and clearing from Grey and Buller.
Monday
North Island: Partly cloudy with isolated showers. Becoming cloudy in the west from Waitomo southwards late with rain developing. South Island: Mainly fine in the morning. Rain developing from the west later, with some heavy falls in Westland and Buller.
Tuesday
North Island: Isolated showers in the north. Rain elsewhere, briefly heavy in the west, easing later, and clearing in the east. South Island: Rain turning to showers early, and becoming isolated and light in the north and east.
And at the Chathams
Occasional showers on Sunday. A few showers Monday and Tuesday. West to southwest winds, changing northerlies on Tuesday.
