A 54-year-old man has been charged after a stand-off in Wellington on Sunday.
The incident began soon after noon in the suburb of Wadestown, after a man allegedly entered a property with a long bladed weapon and tried to steal a vehicle.
Wellington District Commander Superintendent Corrie Parnell said the man has been charged with aggravated burglary and assault with a weapon.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Wellington District Court on 2 October.
