A marathon meeting between embattled Silver Ferns coach Dame Noeline Taurua and Netball New Zealand is heading into a second day after no consensus was reached.
Netball New Zealand controversially stood down the popular coach three weeks ago, just 11 days out from the series against South Africa. Yvette McCausland-Durie stepped in as interim coaches for the series, which the Silver Ferns won three-nil.
Dame Noeline Taurua went back to the negotiating table with Netball New Zealand yesterday to fight her case for reinstatement.
RNZ understands that the meeting ran for nearly 10 hours, with no agreement reached and the parties are due to resume talks this morning.
The national body will be desperate to finally break the coaching stand-off, with the Silver Ferns due to meet world number one Australia in the Constellation Cup starting on 17 October.
With the squad due to head into camp on 6 October, the pressure is on to find a resolution between Taurua, the Players' Association and the national body.
The issues trace back to a training camp in January. Following the tour, two players approached the NZ Netball Players' Association on behalf of a larger group of up to seven players, who raised concerns about Taurua's leadership and communication style.
Players alleged the environment had become "psychologically unsafe" and an independent review later highlighted "significant issues" within the Silver Ferns environment.
RNZ has learnt that several past Silver Ferns have put references forward in support of Noeline Taurua.
