Liam Lawson knows Racing Bulls "have some work to do" after he finished P13 and P17 in the two practice sessions ahead of this weekend's Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

"Today's sessions were tough and with very small margins, but we were pushing to extract every bit of performance from the car. We missed a little on Saturday, but we'll learn from it and will be in a better position for tomorrow," Lawson said.

"We made setup changes between FP1 and FP2, expecting certain improvements, but it didn't go as planned. We'll work on getting on top of things and optimising the car for Qualifying. There's still work to be done, but hopefully we can fight for a spot in Q3."

Meanwhile, Lando Norris put McLaren at the top of the timesheets during the second practice session for the Italian Grand Prix, leading the way from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and Williams' Carlos Sainz.

Red Bull's four-times world champion Max Verstappen was sixth-fastest in session two.

Red Bull's Yuki Tsunoda was ninth-fastest and Racing Bulls' French rookie Isack Hadjar, who took his first F1 podium in last weekend's Dutch race, was 11th.
