The British & Irish Lions sent out an ominous warning to the Wallabies before the first test next weekend, thrashing the AUNZ Invitational side 48-0 at the Adelaide Oval on Saturday night.
The Lions built a commanding lead in the first half through sharp execution and forward dominance, with wing Duhan van der Merwe scoring after only seven minutes. The forwards set the platform from then on, suffocating the AUNZ side with territory and possession control.
Marcus Smith steered the Lions effectively around the park, mixing up his kicking game well against the combined team, which admittedly had only assembled a few days prior.
The Lions' back row, led by standout performances from Jac Morgan and Jack Conan, were relentless at the breakdown. Fellow loosie Henry Pollock managed to get on the scoreboard with a cheeky second half try.
The first test is at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, next Saturday night.
