Watson's presence in the middle in last week's 3-nil win over the Mariners created space and time for his team mates to do what they've struggled to so far this season - score goals.
Krishna said he and fellow forwards Kosta Barborous and Gui Finkler expect Watson to lay on more chances tonight at Mount Smart.
"Hamish gives me and Kosta more freedom to move around. We know our roles pretty well even when Ernie was here," added Krishna in reference to the Phoenix's former coach Ernie Merrick who recently resigned.
"[Watson] helps me and Gui and Kosta to move around quite a lot and that's the understanding we needed."
Watson, a powerful striker from Lower Hutt, scored three goals in eight appearances after coming into the Phoenix as an injury replacement for Krishna late last season.
The 23-year-old was only given a one year contract for the 2016-17 season.
The Phoenix, who are eighth on the ten team ladder, kick off against the Wanderer's tonight at 7.35pm.
