A fire has significantly damaged the Alicetown Community Centre in Lower Hutt overnight.
Four fire engines were sent to the blaze in the early hours of Thursday morning, Fire and Emergency NZ confirmed, and the fire was well involved by the time they arrived at 2.30am.
A spokesperson said they could not yet say if it was fireworks related.
The building looked like it would be out of use for some time, a spokesperson said.
A fire investigator would be at the scene on Thursday morning to try to determine the cause of the fire.
