One person is dead after a house fire in Hastings this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Tamatea Street in the suburb of Mahora about 2.30pm.
Police said they were still working to formally identify the person, and were investigating the cause of the fire.
Cordons remain in place on Tamatea Street between Duke Street and Tamatea Place, while emergency services work at the scene.
