A man is facing charges after a van and trailer he was towing jackknifed before he was found asleep at the wheel.
Police said the van crashed at Runciman in southern Auckland at 12.43am, blocking the road.
They said when officers got there the man was sleeping.
Police suspected him of being under the influence and found methaphetamine and other substances in the van.
A 55-year-old is facing driving and drugs charges, and is also charged with refusing to give blood.
