The Bluff Highway in central Invercargill is closed following a serious crash.
Police said the two-car crash happened at the intersection with Kew Road around 6am on Thursday.
"Indications are there are serious injuries," a police spokesperson said.
"The road will remain closed at the intersection with Kew Road while emergency services work at the scene."

NZTA said State Highway 1 (the Bluff Highway) was closed between Elles Road and Elizabeth Street.
Motorists should follow the detour route and expect delays, it said.
