Police say motorists should expect delays on Cardrona Valley Road in Otago as investigations into a serious crash continue on Thursday afternoon.
Five people were taken to hospital - one with critical injuries and another two seriously injured - after a multiple-vehicle crash shortly after 4pm on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said the road would be reduced to one lane for a period this afternoon as investigators worked to determine the cause of the crash.
Motorists travelling in the area this afternoon were advised to allow extra time for their journey.
