Two businesses have been targeted by robberies in Panmure, Auckland, at the same time.
Detective Senior Sergeant Rebecca Kirk said two people carrying weapons, which were not firearms, stole tills from two takeaways on Jellicoe Road about 1.30 am on Tuesday.
They fled in a stolen car that was waiting for them, driven by a third person.
The car was abandoned a short distance away in Glen Innes.
Kirk said takeaway staff were uninjured.
Police appeal for anyone with information to get in touch.
