Christchurch Police are carrying out "extensive enquiries" to find a man who absconded on Thursday evening.
They were called shortly before 6pm, after 35-year-old Kieran Thomas escaped from the care of another agency. RNZ has approached police to ask which agency was caring for him.
Thomas should be considered dangerous and should not be approached, police said.
Anyone who saw him should call 111 immediately and quote reference number P063340824, they said.
