A person has been transported to Rotorua Hospital in a critical condition after a two-vehicle crash on Friday night.
Another has minor injuries after a truck and car collided near Motutere in the Taupō district.
Police said the accident has closed part of State Highway 1 between Taupō and Tūrangi, and motorists are advised to expect delays.
Emergency services said they were alerted to a two-vehicle crash near Jellicoe Point at around 7.45pm.
Three Fire and Emergency crews were sent to release one person who had become trapped following the crash.
The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.
