First up: The Government has remotely activated the front gate for some wealthy foreigners to buy luxury homes in New Zealand. PM Chris Luxon announced today the government would allow a limited slice of overseas moneybags to build or buy one. The previous Labour and NZ First government banned most foreign buyers in 2018 due to concerns about it affecting house affordability. Mike McMellon is an immigration lawyer from Mason McMellon and joins The Panel. Then, across the Tasman, the manhunt continues for the suspect in the killing of two police officers, and the injuring of a third in rural Victoria. Dezi Freeman is a conspiracy theorist and self-described "sovereign citizen" who rejects government and law. We also have cases of apparent sovereign citizenship in NZ Dr Josh Roose is a political sociologist and Associate Professor of Politics at the Alfred Deakin Institute for Citizenship and Globalisation at Deakin University, Melbourne and speaks to The Panel about the rise of the sovereign citizen movement and what can be done to slow its growth.
