From Morning Report, 7:14 am on 11 September 2019

In the last few hours President Trump has fired his third National Security Advisor - John Bolton In a tweet Mr Trump said "I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House. I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions, as did others in the Administration, and therefore.......I asked John for his resignation, which was given to me this morning. I thank John very much for his service. I will be naming a new National Security Advisor next week." The President's high staff turnover has been well-publicised but the role of National Secutrity Advisor is particularly fraught... A short time ago Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a press conference that he also had his disagreements with Mr Bolton.
