A traveller in the Cook Islands has been revealed as a close contact of a New Zealand measles case.
Te Marae Ora (Ministry of Health) said the traveller arrived in the Cooks on 22 November.
It said as a precaution they are in quarantine and being monitored daily by the health ministry.
"TMO has also been working with the accommodation provider and [is] in constant communication with New Zealand Ministry of Health for technical advice," it said.
Te Marae Ora said a targeted measles vaccination rollout will be announced shortly.
Parents and guardians are advised to check the vaccination status of their children, and if in doubt to contact the Tupapa Primary Care Centre on 20066 or Public Health on 29110.
In New Zealand last week, cases were reported in Auckland with contacts at Auckland Airport and in Nelson with contacts at Richmond locations.
That Auckland case did not change the national total, because an earlier case reported in the total had since returned overseas and would be officially counted in that country's cases.
The national total of the current outbreak is 21.
