Described by the New York Times as “a fearless player with technique to burn”, Daniel Müller-Schott is in the country to perform Schumann’s Cello Concerto with the Auckland Philharmonia.
He’ll also be playing three of Bach’s Cello Suites for Chamber Music New Zealand concerts in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
RNZ Concert host David Morriss caught up with the German cellist to talk about why he chose the cello, what it was like to study with the great Mstislav Rostropovich, and his interest in graffiti art.
"I was fascinated in art in general.. I was always probably drawn into expression, expressing myself, but music was definitely the strongest force and so I'm happy that I actually got into that field."
